GCSE Lecture

GCSE lectures provide core knowledge, split into manageable chunks. They also explain key concepts and examine source material in a visual and accessible way. Students can then use these lectures to plan out an extended response to an exam-style question. This sample lecture focuses on Nazi Economic Policy - a challenging topic. It's dense, relies on an understanding of complex economic theory, and comes at the end of a long unit so teachers are pressured to fit it into a single lesson. History teachers literally pray that this topic does not come up on the exam. This video provides everything a student needs to know and the historical debate to set up for popular exam questions.

GCSE Seminar

GCSE seminars are skill-based rather than knowledge-based. They focus on the process of essay writing, from unpicking the question, to source annotation, through to paragraph construction. This sample seminar acts as an introduction video to Public Health - a key theme in the highly popular 'Medicine through Time' unit. Since this is a breadth unit, this introductory video tracks the development of public health from the Medieval Age through to present day, pinpointing key factors that both hindered and helped the progress and important turning-points. By doing this, students receive a holistic understanding of this important theme before exploring any one topic in depth. It finishes with guidance on how to form an explanatory paragraph. I use the 'What - How - Why' formula to teach students how to be mindful in their crafting of a response, and also how to create a succinct response that is focused on explanation rather than narrative.

GCSE Workshop

This is a sample workshop that could be used as part of the wider marketing strategy. It allows consumers to experience what Socraflix has to offer before making a purchase commitment. In this instance, the workshop is designed for GCSE Medicine through Time students and focuses on primary source analysis. I chose Covid-19 as the topic, since it requires no prior knowledge and so is accessible to both students and their parents. This makes it much easier for parents to engage in the workshop and make an informed decision about Socraflix.
