I have fifteen years of experience as a teacher. Fifteen tough years. I have made many, many, many mistakes. Each of them hardened my conviction to be the very best that I can be. I have also been a Head of Department in two (very different) schools for eight years, and so I know first-hand the importance of the role of middle leaders. I also know that middle leaders are time-poor and ridiculously hard-working, since they must juggle the pressures of their managerial role with their own teaching timetable. I have also been a GCSE and A Level examiner for nine years, for two different exam bodies. This was, hands-down, the best CDP I ever received because it gave me a peep behind the curtain and informed my teaching practice to the point where I can confidently teach those units with nothing but a working board pen by way of technology. However, it cost me countless hours every June - a sacrifice that many teachers, especially with young families, do not want to make.
During these fifteen years, I have watched as digital learning has evolved from watching grainy old documentaries that some kind soul has split into four parts and put onto Youtube to the $194 billion industry that it is today! Whilst digital services have made life much easier for teachers, many still sit behind a pay wall. That's why I want to work with trust and school leaders directly to address the specific needs of their staff body.
